Written by: Shawn Sherman I always say that SQUARE 1 isn't focused on results but is instead focused on the process. There are many great quotes that encapsulate this idea. "Success is a journey, not a destination. The doing is often more important than the outcome." Arthur Ashe "The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand." Vince Lombardi "Success is simple. Do what's right, the right way, at the right time." Arnold H. Glasgow That last quote, especially, really captures what SQUARE 1 is all about. SQUARE 1 consistently delivers success where other methods have failed because the SQUARE 1 methodology is the right thing, the right way and the right time when it comes to uncovering and removing how and why the body compensates. When the source of compensation can be pinpointed, pain relief from our restorative exercises becomes one of the expected outcomes. Those of us who practice SQUARE 1 expect to deliver success over 90% of the time. In rare cases, pain is the result of an underlying disease state, or an undiagnosed HMS structural integrity issue, or is related to being on different medications. But the vast majority of the time, musculoskeletal and joint pain stems from compensatory movement. SQUARE 1 has a clear understanding of the cause and effects of compensatory movement, therefore we can skillfully unwind all of the steps that led to compensation and its "symptoms" in the first place. One last quote to share with you: "If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the results of a hundred battles." Sun Tzu
